Official Handing Over of K9 Dog Kennel Facility at Barbarons

The official handing over ceremony of the Dog Kennel Facility for the Seychelles Police Force K9 Unit took place this morning at Barbarons. The facility was officially handed over by the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Victoria, Mr Ahmed Alneyadi.
The state-of-the-art kennel facility was donated by the Abu Dhabi Police to the Government of the Republic of Seychelles at a cost of approximately two million Seychelles Rupees. This contribution reflects the strong and long-standing friendship between the United Arab Emirates and Seychelles, founded on mutual respect, cooperation, and a shared commitment to development, security, and the well-being of communities.
The modern K9 facility is designed to accommodate up to eight canines and features dedicated support areas, including a veterinary section, training areas, and essential operational facilities. These features ensure that the canines are not only operationally effective but are also properly cared for in accordance with professional standards.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Ted Barbe, expressed his gratitude to Mr Ahmed Alneyadi and the Government of the United Arab Emirates for their generous support. He noted that the establishment of the K9 facility, together with the provision of trained dogs and capacity-building support, will significantly enhance the operational readiness and professional competence of the Seychelles Police Force K9 Unit.
