Family Squad Unit

The purpose of Family Squad Unit is to attend to children at the age of 15 and above that include woman, man, elderly that are being abused. We do

  • Investigations
  • Arrestation
  • Attend scene
  • Attend to victims
  • Recording of statement
  • Gave Advice

The type of abuse that Family squad attend to are:

  1. Sexual assault
  2. Indecent Assault
  3. Threatening Violence
  4. O.A.B.H
  5. Common Assault
  6. Assaulting a Child
  7. ( involving children 15yrs to 17yrs)
  8. Domestic Violence( when its validate)
  9. Illegal abortion
  10. Damaging property ( in regard of two children)

We also talk with teenage girl/boy who are giving their parent difficulties. We do talk in school for awareness.

We also work alongside social services, Ministry of Health, Ministry of education and Attorney General office.

The Family Squad has four (4) officers namely Sergeant Margaret Thelemaque officer incharge then three constable namely Woman Police Constable Bryna Charles, Woman Police Constable Kanisha Dogley and Police Constable Shane Farabeau . We wear casual clothes but not anything clothing that are reveling. All the officer must have a two sets of uniform in case they are call to report for national duties.

In some cases we enroll the Forensic Phycologist namely Sgt Lautee and which later gave a report about the mental state of the victim.

 When the Domestic Violence Act will be Validate the Unit itself will need man  power to better provide the service.

To note: If any officer breach secrecy of a case or share any document in case action will be taken against them and even might be remove from force as he/she cannot be trusted. The case reported at the Family squad are very delicate and must be attend to in a delicate manner.
